Earlier this year we had our Big Day In – our annual staff conference. The day was engaging, fun and informative with the high point being our guest speaker Pip Cheshire from Cheshire Architects. Team based activities saw the guys attempting to survive a plane crash and a forced landing on the moon. The trade specific presentations were also popular with staff gaining a better understanding of other disciplines.

The Big Day In

Our Big Day Out took us on an action-packed journey to Waiheke Island to let off some steam. Archery, laser clay shooting and craft beers in the sun followed by dinner at Onetangi Beach.

We missed the 7.30 pm ferry back to Auckland but didn’t care as the sunset was a stunner!

Some of our mechanical team attended the Air-conditioning, Refrigeration and Building Services exhibition in Sydney to learn about the latest and greatest. The focus was on innovation and emerging trends in the built environment. There was also much on BIM and its impact and how the increased focus on safety is impacting our designs.

Don Mulder joined our busy electrical team in January. An electrical engineering graduate from AUT and an electrician in a previous life, Don is already rocketing through our graduate programme – learning everything he needs to know and didn’t know he needed to know.

Chris Dews comes on board in the newly created role of Design Technician and Services Coordinator. The aim of this newly created role is to enhance our REVIT and service coordination abilities. Chris studied architecture in the UK, and has talents in spatial design, IT and graphic design.
