Auckland Normal Intermediate

About Auckland Normal Intermediate
Following a fire that destroyed the hall and specialist teaching spaces at Auckland Normal Intermediate, a new multipurpose space and teaching block was set in motion.
The larger zone of the multipurpose space (MPS) provides a gymnasium for physical education activities and seamlessly transforms into an auditorium with retractable seating and a stage. The smaller zone comprises a wharekai with a commercial-grade kitchen. Designed to allow for seamless flow to the outdoors, the MPS space has banks of doors and operable windows, providing climatic control and eliminating the need for air conditioning. In a separate building, ten new teaching spaces have been built across two stories, an addition much needed for this central city school’s increasing roll growth.
