About Elizabeth Knox Home & Hospital

Involving the redevelopment of the Totara Buildings, located at the existing Elizabeth Knox Home + Hospital in Epsom, this project incorporated the latest research in aged-care development. Built over two-storey’s, the Totara Home is comprised of 60 large ensuite bedrooms and four, two-room apartments. To provide flow and community, the private bedrooms connect to residential lounges. The bedrooms connect directly to one of the 8 residential lounges, laundry and staff facilities.

The resultant fire designs involved technical mechanical systems that integrated with the fire protection systems and fit within the tight building constraints.
