Ellerslie Stables

About Ellerslie Stables
This $6 million upgrade of Ellerslie Stables transformed the historic 1857 racecourse into a world-class venue. Key features included new stables, a central warm-up ring, veterinary boxes, a trainers’ café, and function room. The aesthetic highlight is the restored 1913 totalisator.
Two-thirds of the existing indoor stables were removed and replaced with 126 tie-up outdoor stalls using durable Cumaru wood. The parade ring features a non-slip rubberised surface, enhancing the viewing experience for racegoers.
Additionally, the project included a high-end events space with concealed air-conditioning and ventilation systems beneath the concrete floor, ensuring an unobstructed and aesthetically pleasing environment. The result is a revitalised Ellerslie racecourse that offers a closer connection to the energy and passion of thoroughbred racing.
